Apprentice Chef – Toorak College

Westvic Staffing Solutions, in partnership with Toorak College have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Chef to join our catering team.

We are looking for an energetic, motivated and reliable individual wanting to start their career and who is looking to work with a dedicated and dynamic team of catering staff. The successful candidate will join a very special school community and assist the catering team in supporting our residential boarder’s, students, staff and the broader community for catered events.

Role & Responsibilities:

With exposure to a wide range of cooking methods and service styles, our Head Chef will work closely with our Apprentice Chef to provide supervision and assist in the completion of their apprenticeship.

The successful applicant:

• Must hold a current and valid Working With Children Check (Employer), a valid driver’s license and access to their own transport.
• Possess an interest of food preparation and service with an emphasis on Asian cuisine, as well as baking and nutritional catering for students.
• Be willing to learn kitchen processes including monitoring of stock, food hygiene, food safety and OH&S practices.
• Ability to work within a large team of diverse people, supporting each other for the benefit of the department.
• Applicants must possess a level of physical fitness suited to a fast-paced kitchen commercial environment.

This is a 4-year apprenticeship, and you will be completing a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery while working Full-Time hours.
